March For Babies

It's that time again! The March of Dimes is having their March for Babies (formerly known as WalkAmerica)10k walk in my area on April 27th. I've placed a badge on the side of the blog and donating is easy, you can even use PayPal and it's tax deductable. Every little bit helps. If you know me then you know I've been participating in this fund raiser since I was in High School, there have only been 3 that I've not walked in in the last 10 years and only one that I didn't raise money for.
So if you're able and you'd like to donate then please click on my badge on the right side of the blog.
thanks!!! XOXOXO

March of Dimes WalkAmerica

So here's our team before the walk. Laurie and I had to catch the train at 6:05 in the MORNING!!! on a SUNDAY!!! to be there in time to register. With there being fewer trains on the weekend that was the latest train that would get us there in time to register and walk. So we got downtown a little before 7am (let me mention that I don't usually get up before 7:30..and yet here I was showered, dressed and up and about) and registration started at 8am. So we wandered a bit found a Dunkin Donuts (breakfast of champions, no?) and a Starbucks to get breakfast (Kev it's all your fault for hooking me on the Green Tea Fraps! that's ok I love you anyway...and besides they taste SOOOOO good!). So we wandered back over a little before 8 and were some of the first to register. We sat on the curb at the starting line and ate our breakfast, since the walk didn't start until 9. We walked the 6.2 miles in about 2 hours and 20 minutes. We really hauled booty because we wanted t catch the 12:05 train, other wise we would have had to wait until 2 for the next one. It was fun, it was tiring, but most of all it was for a good cause! Between the 2 of us we beat our team fundraising goal of $400 dollars, we raised $440 (Thanks everyone who donated!!!). On a down note I really did a number on my left foot. The little toe has a HUGE blister and the one next to it has a cut caused by the little toe's nail. so I got a jolt when I got home and took my shoe off, my sock was a bloody mess. I'm sore and achy everywhere, but it's ok, it'll get better. The part that irks me the most is that I forgot to wear sunscreen! the back of my neck, the lower half of my face (I was wearing a hat) and my forearms are crispy.

Just a quick reminder

That I will be walking on April 29th on Chicago's Lake Front for the March of Dimes WalkAmerica. If anyone would like to sponsor me, the link is in the sidebar! Every little bit helps! Help us save babies. Also if anyone is in the Chicago area and would like to join our team we'd be happy to have you! there's also a link in the sidebar for that as well.

Here's a little info about the March of Dimes and what this charity does.

Did you know that premature birth is the leading cause of new born death in the first month of life? It affects 1,305 babies a day in the United States. Those who survive may have lifelong health problems. And premature births are on the rise -- up to 27% since 1981.
That is why I am asking you to support me in March of Dimes WalkAmerica. Because premature birth can happen to any pregnant woman. In nearly half the cases, the causes are unknown. The March of Dimes is leading the way to find answers by supporting research into the causes of premature birth. I am joining the fight, and so can you.
Your support helps fund:-Research into stress and other factors that may trigger preterm labor.-Programs to educate pregnant women to recognize the warning signs of preterm labor.-Tools to help health care providers find better ways to detect women who may be at risk for preterm labor.
Please join in and help fight prematurity. Visit my webpage and sponsor me in the Walk that saves babies!

Just a little note, I went to make my own donation today (boy do I know how to procrastinate!) and discovered that this year they made it so you can even donate through PayPal. That sure makes it easy doesn't it?

Long time no blog

Well let's start off with another recent pic of the little man of the house. Doesn't he look super tall in this picture? and seriously he almost looks to thin, if it weren't for the fact that I know he eats..non-stop...all day...I'd think we weren't feeding the boy, lol.
On another note I'm gearing up for WalkAmerica tomorrow morning. I must be really devoted to be getting up at 5:30 in the morning to get downtown and register and then walk 10k ( if you didn't know that's 6.2 miles). I mean really I'm usually just rolling over at that time. Bed time for me lately has been about 3 am. Anyway enough lighthearted complaining. I've done this walk 7 out of the last 11 years. So this is a pretty regular event for me. It's an excellant cause, helping fight prematurity, and find ways to improve the odds for babies that are born premature. If you are so inclined you can still sponsor me for my walk, the link is here http://www.walkamerica.org/bonnie76 you can make a donation using a credit card through their secure site or you could even pay using paypal. My personal goal for this year is $300 and I'm a little over halfway there. Thanks Mom, Thanks Tom and Jen! (don't forget this is tax deductable, print out the email that it sends you thanking you for you donation and save it for tax time next year; every little bit helps right?)
Aunt Linda I'm not sure if you usually read this (Jen maybe you can send her over) but I wanted to thank you for helping Grandma scan in those pictures that I needed, I sent out the link to view the page that I made with them this morning. I couldn't have done it without you! Also are you planning on sending me anymore pictures for Tom's page and your page?
Jen thanks for all the help on your end on getting those pictures to me too, it's so much easier if someone can nag (ahem...I mean politely inquire repeatedly) in person! You're awesome!
Can hardly wait to see you all in July! (it'll never get here soon enough and then it'll be over before we know it); oh how we live for summer vacation!
Mom and Dad in case we're boneheaded and forget Happy Anniversary (a couple of days early). We love you and miss you guys so much.

March of Dimes WalkAmerica

Well it's that time of year again! Time for me to start raising money for The March Of Dimes. I try to do their walk each year, (did a few in high school, and then started doing them again a couple of years ago, this will be my 5th year raising money). I didn't actually go down for the walk last year (still raised money), the weather was bad and one of us was sick if I remember correctly. If anyone would like to help me out by donating at my sponsor page that would be FABULOUS. The most I've ever raised was $250 dollars and I'd love to beat that. Remember any donations are deductible on next years taxes. If you know of anyone who would like to donate please send them here or dorectly to my sponsor page. Thanks eveyone!
